Description

“You’re a curious one, and I won’t have you leaving until I figure out what makes you different from everyone else I’ve met,” Venom stated, still with the sly smile on his face. Lira put her hands on her hips and declared, “You’ve got a weird twisted logic, you know that? Can’t you just say that I’m different from everyone by my appearance and let me go?” Venom crossed his arms and laughed saying, “No such luck little mouse.” Venom then uncrossed his arms and reached out for Lira. Lira dodged by jumping onto the back of his hand, causing him then to grin mischievously.
“I knew you were going to do that,” he snickered and Lira realized her feet were stuck on Venom’s hand. On closer inspection, she saw that Venom’s silk was on his hand. He had tricked her! “I will admit, I didn’t think this would work. I just assumed that you would be more focused on dodging my hand than to check what it looked like,” Venom explained as he grabbed Lira with his other hand. Lira stared at him angrily and said, “You jerk!” and bit his finger hard, drawing blood and got some in her mouth. Venom looked at her with a slightly worried look and proclaimed, “Oh you shouldn’t have done that.”
Lira was surprised when he didn’t get mad, but all of a sudden she became limp and couldn’t move her body. Venom placed Lira on a flat stone, and she laid there with her body sprawled out. She felt like she had no bones in her body. Venom crossed his arms and shook his head, “My blood has a very powerful paralyzing toxin in it. It numbs the body on contact, and it is even more potent when ingested. Lucky for you, it only paralyzes the muscles and nerves, not the organs; so you can breathe at least, and you can swallow. Oh, but you can move your eyes. My blood doesn’t affect the eyes,” he explained.
Lira moved her eyes so she could see him and desperately said, “Fix…me…please,” straining with every word. Venom relaxed his arms and looked at her surprised then said, “Oh, you are able to speak? Not very well though.” He gently lifted Lira so she was sitting up, leaning with her back against his hand. He was supporting her completely with his hand saying, “Well, that berry I gave up before would heal you, but it doesn’t seem like you can chew it. Don’t worry; it’ll wear off in two hours.” “…hours!?” she had a sad and desperate look in her eyes.
Venom actually felt pity for her; he has never felt pity before. He gently laid Lira back down and left his den before Lira got a chance to speak again. Lira felt like a rag doll as she was lying there and staring at the ceiling. She swallowed nervously wondering what to do when she heard Venom returning. Venom approached Lira and picked her up the same way he did before. With his other hand he revealed to her another cure berry then put it in his mouth and started chewing. She knew what was going to happen next and desperately said, “…no…”
Venom gave her a look that said ‘would you rather stay stuck like that for 2 hours?’ and tilted her head back and opened her mouth. Despite their size difference, Venom was able to effortless pass the chewed berry from his mouth to hers; using his tongue to direct it down her throat. As soon as she swallowed the berry, she was instantly able to move again. She started coughing and spitting; giving Venom a look of disgust. Venom raised a brow and then said, “I’m expecting a thank-you, not that look.” Lira coughed once more, stood up, and replied, “Why would I? It’s your fault I was like that to begin with.”

Venom put a stop hand in front of her and said, “No way, don’t you blame this on me. It’s your own fault that happened. You bit me of your own volition; I certainly didn’t make you,” he then crossed his arms and gave her a serious look. Lira bent her head down. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, he was right. She looked back up at him and kindly said, “Thank you.” Venom relaxed his arms and said, “You’re welcome, little mouse,” smiling genuinely.
This was the first time Lira saw Venom’s real smile. If she didn’t know better, she would think he was a good guy. She shook it off, put her hand on her hips and said, “Little mouse, little mouse. I told you my name, so why won’t you call me by it?” He sighed and replied, “I only call my friends by their name. I asked for your name for info’s sake.” “Harsh. Maybe I should start calling you bug?” she asked. He laughed saying, “That wouldn’t even make sense. I’m not classified as a bug nor am I small. You, on the other hand, are small and have mouse features. The name suits you.”
She crossed her arms, “Well I don’t like it. The only one who could get away with that nickname would be Ephi.” He looked at her curiously and asked, “And who is that?” She stood there nervously; probably wasn’t the best idea to bring him up. “He’s a friend of mine that I’m playing a game with. It’s a game of cat and mouse,” she replied. Venom got even more curious now. By what she just said, this Ephi was definitely someone of his size and not hers. “So how do you feel about this Ephi character?” he asked.
She looked at him saying, “If you’re asking if I have any romantic feelings for him, the answer is no. I think of him as friend and he saved my life twice. The only thing he would think me as is a worthy opponent.” Venom laughed, then reached out and pats her head, but this time Lira didn’t even try to dodge his hand. She felt like there was no point in trying. He stroked her back once and said, “I don’t know what that guy’s opinion of you is, but I think you’re quite beautiful.” Lira blushed beat red from his words; no one has ever said that to her before. People have said she was pretty but never beautiful.
Lira quickly changed the subject saying, “Well if you’re going to keep me here you can at least tell me how you got that mark,” pointing at the purple skull and cross bones on his chest. “This?” he placed his hand on his chest next to the mark, “I was born with it.” “Wait…that’s a birthmark!?” she asked astounded. He was slightly amused at her astonishment, “I guess you’re amazement is understandable. It certainly is…unique, but it’s not like it bothers or affects me.” Lira crossed her arms and replied, “Somehow I doubt that it doesn’t affect you,” and Venom looked at her curiously.
Lira now put her hands on her hips and said, “C’mon Venom I’m not a fool. There’s no way you’re getting me to believe that birthmark didn’t give you any unwanted attention. Why not just tell me the truth?” Venom gave her a wide eyed look. Then he closed he eyes, sighed, opened them again, and looked at her saying, “You’re right, I’m lying, but why do you even care?” Lira sat down, crossing her legs and she leaned back, using her hands as support. Looking up at him she said, “Well, it would give me an understanding as to why you act like you do, and even if you don’t think of me as one; I think of you as a friend. And I care about my friends, even if they’re bastards.”

This story is almost done, just two more. The last two will be longer.
